The Lifestyle Post #19: The 5 most instagram-able cocktails in Birmingham

A few weeks ago me and a couple of friends went out for some lunchtime cocktails. We scanned the menu and each chose the drink we wanted to sip in the sun before waiting patiently for the waiter to bring us our round so we could do the most important thing…Instagram it! It’s sad I know, but you’re lying if you say you don’t do it too. The funny thing was, while me and my friend Nat’s cocktails were seriously all singing all dancing and VERY Instagram worthy,  Lucy’s just looked like a glass of water – it didn’t make the cut! This got me thinking that there should be a guide to which cocktails are the most Instagram friendly. So viola’ here is my top 5 most instagram-able cocktails in Birmingham. As for the filter? You’re on your own there!

1. Cooler’s a Cucumber at Gas Street Social

Nothing says Instagram like milk bottles and striped straws, and this refreshing tipple from Gas Street Social is no exception. Made with Sauza Blanca Tequila, apple, lemon and a twizzled stripe of cucumber it’s the ultimate summer refresher.

2. Santa Muerte at The Edgbaston
Not one for the light hearted this tribute to the female mexican
saint combines Jose Cuervo Tequila with pineapple and passion
fruit. The fruity decoration and bright colour of the skull make this
one a dream for insta, and you do feel pretty badass drinking out of
a skull.

3. Hyde Park at The Jekyll and Hyde

At The Jekyll and Hyde, you can have your cocktail served in a watering can or a bath tub, yep you heard it right. Hyde Park (the watering can) is made from Bloom gin, shrub cordial, posy syrup, pink grapefruit juice and Dr. Adam’s Elmigarb’s Bitters and it comes with a straw if you fancy drinking straight from the can or a little glass for those who are feeling slightly more sophisticated.

4. The Botanist at The Botanist
Since it’s opening just over a month ago, The Botanist on Temple Street
has become one of the hottest spots in the city. It’s signature cocktail
made with vodka, rum, elderflower, red amaranth, mint, jasmine syrup,
lime juice and topped up with lemonade epitomises the earthy floral feel
that the best loved bar is known for. The purple sprigs also give it it’s
superior instagramability. Top tip? Grab one of the ‘Anthology of Ales’
books that sit on every table to give your shot that extra je ne sais quoi!

5. Lemon Cheesecake Desert Cocktail at Bun and Bowl

Last but certainly not least is this sweet treat from shrimp and burger bar Bun and Bowl. Made from Pinot Grigio, Limoncello and gingerbread it is a crazy mix of flavours that is seriously delicious and tastes just like Christmas! The lemon peel twirl works with the sleek martini glass to make it look amazing and the creamy topping gives the perfect finishing touch.
