A few weeks ago, I jumped on the train to London to attend House of Fraser’s Christmas Press Preview. It was a scorching hot day and of course I decided it would be a great idea to wear black jeans – a decision I very quickly regretted as I was making my way down Baker Street. But I was soon transported into an air-conditioned winter wonderland when I reached the House of Fraser Headquarters. The place had been transformed into a festive haven filled with a whole range of gorgeous products that will be coming to the store this autumn, ready for the most wonderful time of the year!
After helping myself to some delicious elderflower cordial (big elderflower lover over here!) and the lightest, fluffiest lavender scones I had ever tasted. I made my way around the showroom and resisted the urge not to get too excited about all of the sparkle!
The layout was split into three different sections; fashion, gifts and homeware.
First up was the fashion room, dressed with Christmas party dresses galore. Their was a gorgeous mix of textures and intricate detail including satin, knitwear and a big trend for this season; jacquard. One of my absolute favourite pieces was a stunning 60’s inspired dress from the new Millie Mackintosh collection which had a mock open back and a beautiful jacquard pattern.
They also had a section for the boys and the shirt and jacket combos seemed to be leaning towards the made in Chelseaesque country look – which I love!
After tearing myself away from all the beautiful dresses, I wandered into the gift display. The gifts were predominantly separated into His ‘World Traveller’ and Hers ‘Pretty Vintage’ sections. Pretty vintage was a heaven of pale pink and crushed velvet goodies that any girly girl is going to love. One of the highlights for me was the new winter range of bags and purses from Ted Baker that sports a gorgeous snowy print!
World Traveller was filled with traditional vintage and leather gifts that I know Will would absolutely love! In fact, although it was aimed at the boys, I have to say there were a few things I would definitely put on my Christmas list, especially the travel journal and matching flask – so cute!
Last up (and in my eyes the best bit!) was the homeware section. There is nothing I love more than seeing your house transform into a Grotto at Christmas (props to my mum who is the best Christmas decorator ever!) and House of Fraser have a whole host of different style decorations to make your house look magical!
The three different looks they had set up were High Society, a soft vintage look with pale pinks, soft golds and intricate detail, Black Magic, a luxurious and glamorous feeling look complete with rich golds and deep pinks and Enchanted Forest, a more homely, traditional look with a country feel and rustic decorations. All three styles made the room look gorgeous and really put a unique twist on traditional Christmas décor.
I had such a great time getting in the festive mood at the event and it definitely looks like House of Fraser have got Christmas all wrapped up – is it too early to bring out the mince pies?
