I have never tried a Chanel foundation before, but after seeing lots of hype around their bases on loads of beauty blogs, I thought I would take the plunge and give it a go! I went for the Perfection Lumière which is said to offer a “light fluid texture” which offers “lightweight coverage”. Unfortunately I have to admit I am not really wowed by it. BUT I think there could be a few explanations as to why…
So firstly what are my issues with it? Well, it’s really matte (like really matte!), which a few years ago would have been perfect for me, but these days I prefer a slightly more dewy base. The matte texture also means that it tends to stick to my dry patches and I don’t find it as buildable as other foundations that I have loved recently. Another issue is that I bought the foundation in a shade 10 Beige, which is just that bit too pale for me at the minute.
With that being said the coverage is actually very impressive and the lasting time is much better than the Bourjois Healthy Mix which is my current favourite.
I think the key to using this foundation is to really prep the skin well before you use it. It’s not a product that you can get away with putting on unless your skin is in tip top condition, exfoliated moisturised – the lot!
I reckon, although this definitely won’t be my summer staple foundation it could be a contender for the winter when I tend to rediscover my love for a matte finish and my skin loses that (bottle induced) healthy glow. So all is not lost and I still have faith in the sacred Chanel base.
Have you ever tried the Perfection Lumière ? What did you think?
